A Pipe Organ for Salem!
During the last two weeks of april a pipe organ for Salem's new worship space became available. The organ is in excellent condition, sounds great, is the right size for Salem's new worship space and has only been gently used, although it was built in 1977. During the past five months the old electronic organ that has serves Salem well since the 1980s demonstrated increasing evidence of its decreptitude. Considering the expensive service calls, parts that are no longer available and more recent difficulties with the existing organ, the Congregation Council met, deliberated and voted to purchase the pipe organ at a cost of $35,000. Gifts to cover the cost of the intstrument are needed and welcome. $21,550 is already in place toward the purchase. If you would like to be an "organ donor", please contact the Church Office.

Summer Sunday Class Sessions
In the summer, two informative and formative classes will be offered for adults from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Lectionary Readings: On sunday, June 1, the class will begin to study the readings of the day: the first reading from the Old Testament, the second reading from teh New Testament and the third reading from the Gospel. The lessons provide unity in worship.
The Sunday lectionary readings do not include the whole Bible. They are chosen specifically to highlight the unique and saving ministry of Jesus Christ, and they work with the churhc year ot unfold that reality. These readings do expose christians to much of the gospels and other New Testament writings.
The Friendship Class begins studies of the book of Genesis during the summer. The class is looking at the beginnings of the journey of man on the road of faith and the building of hte kingdom of God on earth. Genesis is the chronicle of loss, faith and the promise of redemption. It is the story of the beginnings of our faith. Amazing things are being discovered! Join us in the parlor on Sundays at 9:30 a.m.
