SLIK (Salem Lutheran Inspired Kids), 1st - 3rd Graders
Friday, Sept. 16: Wacky Water Games!
Welcome to a new SLIK year! Welcome especially to the new first graders in the group! For our first get-together of the year, come on out for "Wacky Water Games Night" on Sept. 16, 7-9 p.m.! Wear clothes you don't mind getting wet, and bring a towel and change of clothes, as well as a baby item (see below). We'll also have a snack and some free time. invite a friend to come out for this great night of wet fun!
Every Friday beginning June 10, 6:30-8 p.m.: Youth Hang Out! For middle and high school students. The gym will be open for you and your friends to hang out, play cool group games, play basketball, volleyball or pool, etc.
Every Friday beginning June 10, 8-9 p.m.: Youth Bible Study! Get ready for a fun, interactive study of the bestselling book of all time!
Thursdays, June 16 and 30, July 14 and 28, and August 11: Youth Movie Club! On a hot Thursday night, a cool movie is just the ticket! Bring your pillow to the Fellowship Hall and get ready to get comfortable. We'll see the summer's best new releases and others that you'd like to see, all projected onto the big screen! Pizza is available for $5.

SUMMER ADVENTURES (Day Trips)
Summer is a great time to get out and experience all the great stuff our city has to offer! At various times during the summer, trips are available for both younger children and older youth.
Middle and High School
Wednesday, June 8, Astroworld Trip: We'll spend a day whirling around the myriad of roller coasters at Six Flags Astroworld! There are also shows, games and lots of other stuff to do, too. We'll meet at Salem at 10:00 a.m. and return by 6:00 p.m. Bring $25 and a Coke can for your ticket, plus money for lunch.
Sunday, July 10, Paintball Trip: How good of a shot are you? Come find out when we go paintballing! We'll go to Paintball Bonanaza, located just a few minutes from church, and play at the safest paintball field in Houston. Bring at least $35 (and an extra $10-$20 if you want to purchase more paintballs). It is recommended that you bring long pants, a long sleeve shirt and (if you wish) a baseball cap to protect your skin. You can pull these on over t-shirts and shorts, and take them off to cool down in between games. Bring all your stuff to church on July 10. We'll have lunch together after the late service and then head over to the paintball fields (early service folks, meet us at church at 1:00 p.m.). We'll be back to church between 4:00 and 5:00 p.m.
Wednesday, August 3, Laser Tag: Strategy and evasion are the keys to this game! The playing arena is three stories, with ramps leading to three different levels. You'll have a blast wiping out your friends! We'll meet at church at 6:00 p.m. and will stop for a quick bite to eat. Bring $5 for dinner and $15 for two Laser Tag games. We'll return to church between 9:00 and 9:30 p.m.
Kindergarten through 5th Grade
Wednesday, June 15, Picnic in the Park and Zoo Trip: Meet at Salem at 9:00 a.m. We'll visit the zoo, ride the new Wildlife Carousel, ride the train, and cap it off with a picnic lunch in Hermann Park Bring $7, a sack lunch and a drink. Coolers will be provided.
Friday, July 8, A.D. Players Children's Theater: Venture back in time to experience the biblical story of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, three Hebrew youths who defy the king and find themselves thrown into the fiery furnace, only to be saved by an angel of the Lord. Tickets are $9 each. Please sign up on the youth bulletin board or call the Church Office by Friday, June 24 to reserve your spot so tickets can be purchased in advance. Parents are welcome to come, too! Anyone wishing to carpool will meet at Salem at 10:45 a.m. Otherwise, we'll meet at the Rotunda Theater at 11:!5 a.m. (located at St. Luke's Methodist Church), 3471 Westheimer (at the corner of Westheimer and Edloe).
Friday, August 5, Trip to The Mad Potter: You won't want to miss this trip to the paint-your-own-pottery studio! Choose from an array of paints, brushes and other tools to paint your original pottery creation! We'll meet at Salem at 2:00 p.m. and return between 4:00 and 4:30 p.m. Children under 8 years of age will do best with a parent along to help. Cost: $5 for children, $7 for adults, plus the cost of the pottery piece you choose (pieces range from $4 to $60).
SPECIAL EVENTS & OUT-OF-TOWN TRIPS
Confirmation Camp, June 19-23 - Salem's 7th - 9th graders are all eligible to attend a week of confirmation camp at Lutherhill, our synod's camp in La Grange, TX. Campers enjoy a week of enjoying the outdoors, canoeing, swimming, hiking, braving the high ropes course, enjoying Bible study, and a host of other activities. Camp is part of our confirmation ministry during 7th, 8th and 9th grades. Visit www.lutherhill.org for more information on camp activities.

High School Colorado Backpacking Trip, July 24 - August 1- Salem's high school students are eagerly awaiting their annual summer trip, this year to Hillside, Colorado to backpack the majestic Sangre de Christo mountain range in the Rocky Mountains. We'll hike about 35 miles in five days with everything we need on our backs! It is a once-in-a-lifetime trip, and we're excited to be going. Friends are welcome, too. Middle School Trip to Schiltterbahn, August 3-5 - Salem's middle school students will make their annual visit to New Braunfels on August 3-5! We'll enjoy a day at the Schlitterbahn on Thursday and enjoy other area attractions as well. We'll leave in the late afternoon on Wednesday and return on Friday evening. Friends are welcome, too. The ocst is $85 per person, and includes your Schiltterbahn ticket, all meals (except dinner Wed. and Fri.), and our lodging.
